| Well, Rare has done it again. Time after time
they create great looking games that are superior
to most others on the market. Jet Force Gemini is
a graphically intense action packed title with
just the right amount of puzzles to keep you
thinking while you blow away your enemies. Juno, Vela, and their
trusty dog, Lupus, are Jet Force Gemini. Their
goal is to stop the sinister villian Mizar, who
has been systematically taking over planets in
their galaxy. After many calls for help went
unanswered, Jet Force Gemini decided to take the
matter into their own hands. Now that the evil
Mizar has arrived at their own planet it has
gotten personal.
JFG is a 3-D action shooter with elements of a
role-playing game in it. The puzzles in the game
are simple, yet hard enough to keep your mind
going. I would suppose this means that killing
all of the insectoids is not the only objective
in the game. Finding all of Mizar's secret areas
should keep you busy for quite some time.
Each character takes a
different route to Mizar's home planet, where
they plan to join together in a fight against the
evil villian. The journey there is a graphical
adventure sure to keep you immersed in the vast
3-D enviornments and cinematic cut scenes to
introduce each level. JFG contains realtime
lighting effects and dynamic reflection routines.
You may find yourself wasting ammo just to see
the highly detailed world light up all around
you.
Don't count on the enemies to sit there and
let you kill them. Rare has developed an earth
shattering artificial intellegence it will make
you wonder if the insectoids have had military
tactics training. The bosses in this one are
oversized, making you feel intimidated at times.
What great shoot em' up
title would be complete without a multiplayer
deathmatch mode. Yup, from the people that gave
us the great feature in Goldeneye comes another
incarnation of the addicting man hunting syndrome
we have all grown to love. This time the game
includes a new brand of the multiplayer
deathmatch. What is it? You'll have to wait and
see.
This looks to be another great title from
Rare. I'll be waiting for this one when it hits
the shelves.
