| Here we go again. Konami has gone back to
there original game plan with the Castlevania
series. They have gone back to making each game a
classic in the now fourteenth installment in the
series. How's it a classic already do I hear you
say? Well, the Belmont family is back in the
picture and all the characteristics of the
original are back. All the timed jumps and whip
lashing action is back, and it still has a hint
of RPG added in. It
has been 100 years since the last episode took
place. Schneider Belmont, a descendant of Simon
from the original, has been training for the day
when vampires would comee again. The day has come
and Schneider is ready for action. He grabs his
family whip and gets some holy water and heads
off to begin his quest. This time, however, there
is another. Carrie Eastfield is a young girl
whose mother has been put to death after being
accused of witchcraft. Now Carrie has a personal
vendetta against all evil. She and her magic
steal away to seek and destroy dracula.
Because both players are not paired up from
the beginning in their quest to end evil, there
are two different paths through the game. This
means that there will be different boss
encounters by each character and, of course,
different endings.
Simply called, it is
Castlevania, just like the original. While the
game may share the same story line and some
common tasks of the original the similarity ends
there. This is the first in the series that is
made completely with polygons. It is also the
first to be fully 3-D. The game is built around
gameplay, like every game should be. The gameplay
is accompanied by some amazing graphic effects
and another high quality soundtrack.
Castlevania combines simple puzzle solving
with just the right amount of monster carnage,
and it is spread across each of the gigantic
fourteen levels. The levels range from the
Transylvanian Forest down into the deepest tombs.
The game sounds like it will have a Resident Evil
kind of atmosphere to it. A very interesting
game. Look for this title, it will be a good one.
